Visiting Assistant Professor of French at Davidson College and Director of the Self-Instructional Languages Program, Florin has earned his PhD in Medieval French Literature from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN. His interests are centered around Medieval Studies, Queer Studies, Contemporary French cinema, and French language teaching (Secondary Language Acquisition). A Romanian native, Florin speaks several different languages and enjoys reading, art and nature, among many other things. |

Adjunct Assistant Professor of German Studies and Coordinator of the Self-Instructional Language Program at Vassar College. Lioba Gerhardi earned her PhD in Germanic Languages and Literatures and a Certificate in Film Studies at CUNY’s Graduate Center and teaches all levels of German language, literature, and film in Vassar’s German Studies department. In her research, as well as in her teaching, she is interested in the interplay of different forms of art and language, and the broader intertextual space that surrounds every artistic expression.
She coordinates Vassar’s Self-Instructional Language program, which offers American Sign Language, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Irish, Portuguese, Swahili, Swedish, Turkish, and Yiddish. |

Her areas of research include the contemporary literature, film, and culture of Quebec as well as literature in English, French and Spanish from the Caribbean including the Haitian diaspora. |
